For your prime viewing pleasure is this vintage Ludwig 5×14 No. 231 Super Ludwig snare drum from the 1920s. It’s in overall great condition and it tunes up with well. This nearly 100 year old two-piece nickel over brass shell has welded back bearing edges just like the black beauties of the time. This drum originally had all gold hardware and the exterior looks to have been Ludwigold that was mostly polished off and it has earned a gorgeous almost raw brass/gold looking patina that has an undeniable vibe. The hardware has aged well including the “Super Ludwig” stamped bottom hoop. The lugs are original with period correct nickel tension rods and clips, which are intact with no cracks. It has a 1960s chrome Super Sensitive snare strainer which is fully functional with 1970s wires installed. This drum is truly an awesome piece of drum history that you can feel comfortable playing out regularly.
