Description Selbach-Oster Funkelwurtz is a de-alcoholised sparkling Riesling from one of the Mosel’s most trusted family estates, and it makes a genuinely compelling case for the category. Bright and crunchy on the nose, with green apple, zippy orchard fruit, and a lift of elderflower. The palate is fresh, lively, and dry, with a clean finish and a proper sparkle that feels nothing like the sugary, flat alternatives that dominate the zero alcohol fizz market. This is for drivers, school-night drinkers, early morning athletes, and anyone who simply wants bubbles without the fuzz. The Selbach family has been farming the Mosel since 1661, with Johannes and Barbara Selbach now running the 25 hectare estate across premier and grand cru sites in Zeltingen and Graach. Fermentation is natural, cool, and slow, with gravity settling of the must and substantial lees contact to build texture and purity. The wines are unfined throughout. Riesling from the blue slate soils of the Mittel Mosel has a naturally high acidity and a crispness that makes it one of the best possible bases for a de-alcoholised sparkling wine, retaining the energy and mineral character that give it life in the glass long after the alcohol has been removed. 0% / 75cl
